“You cannot always control circumstances, but you can control your own thoughts. “
And here are some additional thoughts on this topic…
Last week a friend of mine was featured in his college newspaper. His name is Troy. He’s a senior at Minnesota State University – Mankato. He’s been blind most of his life. And he’d be deaf without a special implant that allows him to hear.
When most of us look at Troy’s situation we’d think he’s had a challenging life. And that’s reasonable. But Troy is one of the happiest and most upbeat people I’ve ever known. And I’m not alone in this. His fun loving and positive outlook on life is obvious to everyone he meets. It’s one of his defining traits. I doubt the phrase “challenging life” ever enters his mind.
Troy is a living example of how to be positive and have a healthy attitude, no matter what your situation is. He’s done it every day of his life. He’s proof that while we cannot always control our situation, we can choose our attitude.
This week, pay attention to your attitude and your thoughts. Are they serving you well? Are they helping you have the life you want?
