Ask your customers these three questions…

Our customers know our businesses better than we think. And it makes sense. We’re in business to help them. If we don’t our business will fade away, as it should. Their experience is critical because it tells us whether we are actually helping them or not. It also tells us how we can do better.
So we continuously need answers (from our customers) to these three questions:
1. What do you want (from us)?
2. How are we doing (in providing what you want)?
3. How can we do better?
Find ways to ask these questions of your customers. Don’t be invasive or overbearing. Remember, you’re there to HELP them. But work these into your conversations in a natural, easy way. Make a habit of doing this. Make note of what they tell you and share it with your manager and peers.
